I often hear people say that 'I'd never have Hypnotherapy because; I don't want to be out of control or I don't want to embarrass myself!' It is often given a bad name by the showmanship that is portrayed on the TV. No one will be walking around my counselling room clucking like chickens - I promise!
Hypnotherapy is all Self-Hypnosis, I can't make you do anything you don't want to. It's basically a deep meditation, where you are aware of what is going on, but working with your subconscious installing positive views and post-hypnotic cues, so that when you are not in a self-hypnosis trance; you can still feel the same effects in your day to day living.
e.g. If you're an artist, you might imagine in your Hypnotherapy sessions meditation that your stress is like a dis-organised tool box of paints and brushes. You may tell yourself that an artist can't paint without knowing what tools he has and therefore mentally reorder that box in your meditation and associate that as a de-stressing technique. In everyday life then, visualising that tidy artists tool box every-time you feel stressed will give you a cue to relax and feel less stressed.
Hypnotherapy is perfect for working in a very focused way on a particular identified issue including;
Smoking cessation ++ Weight-loss ++ Pain Management ++ Sleep Problems ++ Confidence ++ Phobias ++ Social Anxiety ++ Exam Nerves ++ Addiction ++ Public Speaking ++ and so much more....
So how many sessions will I need?
On average it will take 3 sessions*, but this is very much depending on you, your ability to relax and the practice you do between sessions. (*some complex issues may take longer)
On our first session which is usually 1 1/2 hours long (an hour each session after) we sit and discuss your reason for wanting Hypnosis and practice some basic relaxation techniques and gauge your existing ability to deeply relax. From this session we will begin to formulate a plan.
